Cloud layers and bases come from the airport's latest official METAR. Cloud shapes and spread are drawn, not observed; CB from the remarks is placed by direction only. Radar: NEXRAD reflectivity (Iowa Environmental Mesonet), decoded to dBZ and shown in the standard NWS 5 dBZ colors, updated every 5 minutes. 3D rain stands where radar shows 20 dBZ or more; its height is the measured NEXRAD echo top where there is one, otherwise the cloud base.
Demo logic, not for real ATC. Each pair is checked against FAA JO 7110.65 minima for the airspace it is in (3 NM or 1,000 ft in the terminal area, wake spacing on final, Class B rules). It cannot see clearances, visual separation or flight plans; IFR or VFR is guessed from the squawk. Airspace: FAA AIS open data, not for navigation. Height stretch exaggerates altitude so layers are easier to read.
